Report: More Americans are eating at home instead of restaurants

Per-person restaurant visits have dropped to a 28-year low this year, according to a report by Bloomberg on Tuesday.

Research group the NPD Group Inc. reports that 82 percent of American meals are prepared at home, which is more than were cooked 10 years ago.

Even though sales at U.S. restaurants like McDonald’s are up, the traffic for the industry was down 1.1 percent in July according to MillerPulse data. The sales increase also can be attributed to pricing, and not customers.
