Report: FDA threatens moves against companies to stop kids vaping

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar told five major e-cigarette manufacturers on Wednesday to come up with ways to address youth use in 60 days or the agency could require them to stop selling flavored products that appeal to children, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Azar said the Food and Drug Administration has his “complete, undivided support in being aggressive” to combat the increasing use of electronic-cigarette products by children and teens.

The potential moves against vaping are an effort by regulators to limit sales of alternative tobacco products to minors, which they fear could lead to more young people smoking cigarettes.
