Josh Brolin is joining the star-studded cast of the upcoming reboot of Dune!
The 51-year-old actor is set to take on the role of Gurney Halleck, a mentor to Timothee Chalamet‘s character and the warmaster for his family.
The film will be based on the Frank Herbert novel of the same name, which was the inspiration for the original film in 1984.
Set in the distant future, Dune follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
The cast already includes Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, and Stellan Skarsgard with Zendaya and Oscar Isaac in talks to join.
